Passage to Earth- The Demon Deroch.
Before the First Chapter
"Illusions are what we build reality on."
Deroch walked down the long dark hall towards the Great Assembly, its sides were dimly illuminated by the cold eternal flames of pain, flames that would lick the flesh to the bone of a mortal man, should one ever stumble upon these halls.
Deroch slouched as he walked; he was alone and had no reason to stand tall or to impose the power he possessed. His thick muscled arms, wrapped in statue like flesh hang softly at his sides; he neared the chamber, pausing before he stepped through the doors. As he did so, he changed his posture and stepped with a determined stride, one that increased his mighty stature and one that was fitting for a Demon of Satan’s Armada of the undead.
“Deroch my old trusted friend, it has been too long.” A thick powerfully confident voice boomed out from the end of the large round dark chamber, the moment Deroch entered.
Deroch smiled, his face was a contrast, one of a terrifying demon, born from man’s nightmares, yet he possessed eyes deep with wisdom, and at times a warmth that reassured many when he met their gaze. It was his smile, something those Demons seldom did, and he smiled often. It was disarming, even to harden fiends of the after life. Behind his eyes however lurked a gentle sadness that he could at times see in his own reflections, but a sadness he kept to himself.
“It has been too long.” Deroch covered the distance and embraced his old fiend, his mentor and the ultimate leader of this realm. Stepping back he looked the one known as Satan, the Devil, Lucifer into his eyes, as both shared a small laugh upon their reunion. Whatever the Devil had been called over the ages, Deroch knew him simply as friend.
The Devil stood from his thrown of bones, and stepped down towards Deroch, taking his friend by the arm the pair walked towards another room. The Devil stood a good meter taller and wider than the already imposing Deroch, who himself was an impressive two metres tall.
“I have a favor to ask of you, and it is only you I can trust with this errand.” The Devil began as the pair reached a large orb in a smaller room. The orb was of the earth; it was in fact the Earth, as it orbited he sun, and sat suspended in space. It was perfectly clear, and with the slightest manipulation the Devil could navigate to any spot, any place, and zoom in as close or as far as he liked. It was a technology eternal as evil itself. It was an orb long possessed by him, though rarely used in the last centuries.
“I need you to go to Earth.”
Deroch stared at the planet as he listened to what the Devil had to say, as the pair looked at the Orb, a small cluster of other Demons entered the room. Deroch paid them no attention.
“It’s been awhile since I was there, I have heard it has changed a lot since the old days.”
“Indeed it has. You could say I have become a celebrity there, one to be worshiped even. I think one report assured me that ‘Evil is Sexy’.”
The Devil smiled clearly amused.
“Sexy is good I suppose. I bet that has upset a few in the Heavens.” Deroch mused as he looked at his smiling friend.
“It has, and it is for that precise reason I need you to lead a task force. I need to you to go down and make sure that the liberation of Earth does not falter. I need you to make sure things happen naturally.”
“I suppose that there will be Angels to deal with.” Deroch commented as he tightened his fists.
“Yes. Which is why I need you. Your past experiences alone qualify you. But I need you to be there as a friend and some one I can trust.”
Deroch was reluctant to accept this task, though he had no choice, he simply turned his head from the earth towards his friend and over lord and nodded.
“I can do that.”
“Good. Termacle, come here, and let me introduce you both.” The Devil gestured to a broad shouldered Demon, his skin a dark gray, his face a sharp long wedge that allowed his razor like teeth to bear should he slightly raise his lips.
Termacle reached for Deroch’s hand and shook it with a firmness that confirmed what Deroch could see in the younger Demon’s eyes. Resentment.
“I shall do all I can to assist you.” Termacle said as he released Deroch’s hand.
“Thank you. It seems we have a duel with Angel’s ahead of us. And they fight with a savage zeal you have never accounted.”
“I am ready for anything. I am worried that you may have let the ages take its toll on you.” Termacle said smiling a thin lizard like grin.
The Devil smiled, amused by the clear rivalry. He thought little of it; his Demons had never been a harmonious bunch amongst themselves. They were always however loyal to him.
“I am sure both of you, and all in your team will do well on Earth. Now make your preparations. Deroch, perhaps you called call upon me some time later. I have another matter to discuss.”
The Devil turned and left the Orb room. Leaving the Demons to there own company. The younger ones circled the Orb; excitedly they looked it over as Deroch stood idle lost in his own thoughts.
A small slightly built ghoul entered, his round head bobbed up and down as he walked. Entering the room, he was easily dwarfed by the demons. The ghoul looked up at Deroch and nodded, both recognised the other, though it had been some time.
“I am to take you all to get some bodies for your entry on to Earth.” The ghoul said, his eyes never meeting any of the Demons. He turned and left the room. The pack of Demons followed, some of the younger ones showing their excitement by playfully bumping and tackling one another as they left the great Assembly room, and walked down the great hall.
In the assembly chamber Deroch and the younger demons stood by none whispering a word as the ghoul pointed to a chart of human bodies that they would enter the Earth realm in. None had a choice in the matter, it was pre determined by the Ghoul, who was the best at what he did.
“Now get your bodies on, and be prepared for your entry into Earth.” The Ghoul said as the group of Demons exited the room. Reaching for Deroch, the Ghoul looked up at him, his eyes meeting the powerful demons.
“Are you up for this?” The Ghoul asked.
“Off course I am.”
“I’m here if you want to talk, ok.” The Ghoul said his face sincere as Deroch simply responded with a nod.
It was now time, to return to Earth.
